Mr Cusack knows his shit, just listen to sound clips on his site http://www.cusackmusic.com and decide.

If you're asking if it's better than a stock Ibanez TS-9. Yeah. Yeah it is.

He does circuit layout for Zachary Vex.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

That might be a feather in his cap...

Better is always a subjective term, but it's worth looking into. There are so many options in the world of overdrive. Who knows, maybe you wouldn't like the hi-fi versions... I've been thinking of getting a Russian Big Muff lately for that rude, gritty character, and my Sovtek is hardly a super-clean amp either.

I'm always a tad wary of people who advertise gear as, "Just like the original, only better!" because improvements are still changes to the original. Just be sure the changes you're buying are the changes you want. If you want the sound of a TS-808, get a TS-808. If you want something that starts with a JRC4558 chip and tweaks it, you've got a lot of reading to do.

At least Cusack is fairly honest about his gear. And it looks friggin' cool.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

speaking of sovtek amps, remember when i said mine was perfect? well, i was wrong. now that i run a shannon o/d through it, it is perfect. holy shit, this is the best pedal i've ever owned, and i'm glad i got one before they were gone. now i can run my sovtek clean and kick on the o/d vs. running the sovtek on 8 to get the proper tone, killing the rest of the band. what a cool little amp.

I love my Shannon with the Sovtek, too. It really gives it more of that Marshall flavor. The amp still sounds best when it's cranked, but putting a great OD in front really brings out the life in the amp. I still have my Tubescreamers, and they tend to push the amp more towards the Fender realm, so the Shannon is a great contrast. But the end result is that the Sovtek is a great amp to drive with any decent pedal!

Cusack makes great pedals, his screamer pedal isn't really well known yet. But, it will be soon. He donated some pedals to the Tsunami relief effort and they were picked up for a good price and many were very happy. There are threads ob them at musictoyz.com, If you want a tube screamer but more give it a look. He also has a screamer fuzz worth a look.
