I started teaching myself to play the guitar a few months ago. I think it was going OK--I can play 15 chords--but I'm using this really lame book and the only songs that it teaches me to play are selections like "Drunken Sailor" and "Frere Jacques." I know that we all have to start somewhere, but I'm soooo frustrated by these boring songs. When will I be able to play a PJ song and how can I get music? I looked on-line for PJ chords but I don't understand the way they show the chords on the web pages. Please help me--I know there's a rocker in me just dying to come out.......

I learned on an acoustic playing that same crap, and I got sick of it. I just started learning easy rocks songs people would recognize, then eventually learned harder ones. I think the best thing I did was learn Metallica because they use a lot of different guitaring. If you're looking for tab try http://www.giventowail.com it seems to have a lot.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.
  • I don't know I can see it now. A cover of "drunken sailor" could be huge. Probably go Platinum in two months.

Having a hard time finding a direct link, so here's the round-about way:

    Go to http://www.giventowail.com/

    Go to the main page

Click "GTW FAQ" on the left side of the page

There is a huge section on reading tab at the bottom of the FAQ section.

    Hope that helps...

Once you've mastered the art, you can use their site (and many others) to learn some songs you'll appreciate more.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

And how the others said, try some easy musics first and then go to the more difficults, with you want some easy pearl jam songs, i would say Nothingman and Black.

P.S: Sorry about the grammar...I realy need some praticse
