How does Ed get any kind of clean tone live

I understand how he did it with the Hiwatt. But Tweed Deluxes have almost no clean head room at all. It must be the amp he uses in the middle. What is that amp?

    It's a bassman....I honestly haven't heard a clean tone from Ed at all during a show.
