I'd like to get something that's moderately priced in terms of recording equipment. I like to be able to play back some of the stuff I've written and critique it. Maybe even be able to loop some tracks. I don't know what's good and what's not. I'm looking for some feedback, so it can help me make my purchase. Please let me know what's out there and I appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks!

    Need more info...

Do you want multi-track, or just a stereo rig? Computer, stand-alone, or multiple units? BUDGET?

There are so many ways you can go... cheap mixer with a decent tape deck, four-track tape recorder, digital hard-disc, DAW's... 24-track 2" tape reel-to-reel... (what I wouldn't give for a 8-track 1" tape machine)
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

i'd say using a pc or mac would be a good bet

if you have a decent one or can afford one then you don't need too much:
-the computer with a sound card
    -1/4 to 1/8 adapter
-Pro Tools (free version) or some other recording software
-a good microphone maybe like a shure sm57

    good luck
