I'm interested in getting a good, solid uke. I don't want a toy and i'd like to spend $100-150. I'm looking for some suggestions...

Links to musicians friend or whatever would be appreciated.

Thanks!

just buy the toy, they work!
  • I got the most basic hilo at guitar center for less than $80. It's great and I don't worry about banging it around or anything. But I got a cheap one cause I wasn't sure if I'd be into it.

Buying one is a bit like getting a guitar. You have to try them out and see which one you fall in love with.

If your serious about it, I'd look at the hawian uke's. I wish I had gotten one.
Things change. They wont change unless you make them. The best way to change something you don't like, is to change yourself. So if you feel like you have a piece of duct tape on your mouth and you can't escape, take it off, speak up, speak your mind, shout it out, let 'em hear ya! -EV

+1, ive got a hilo and its great. plays good, sounds good, ive painted and mangled the shit out of it and it doesn't matter. I couldn't justify paying >$100 for something I would only use occasionally

I got mine for just 30 euros from a Spanish music shop, and it came with a fetching green and yellow Tartan bag! It's an 'Anow' and it's always done me proud, maybe getting a cheaper one is the way to go, especially if you find that you're not using it that much in the future.
