Singing....

I can sing some songs perfectly and sound good...as in Last Kiss I sound amazing in...but most other songs, for any other band I sound like an idiot, like really bad...as in I should never sing again...

Anyway, I leave in 10 hours to go to Seattle, I'll let you all know the gear I see :D

    yeah, i do.

i usually have to change the key of things and just stay in my own range and change things as needed. my range is pretty limited.

So funny you say that... I have a terrible voice. I won't deny that, but...

I can sing "Betterman", "Porch", "Alive", and a lot of other Pearl Jam songs fairly well, but i can't even try anything else or it sounds horrible. I've always figured it was just cuz even tho i'm so tonedeaf, i've heard the songs so much that i can't mistake the notes when singing.
    Camden I '06, Camden II '06, Bonnaroo '08, Camden I '08, Camden II '08, Philly Spectrum II/III/IV '09, MSG I '10, MSG II '10, Made In America '12, Wrigley '13, Brooklyn II '13, Philly I '13, Philly II '13, ...

Ya. Some songs (like Last Kiss) I sound great in, and other songs (Hide Your Love Away) I'm not even close. I think I'm playin 'Hurt' next year at school and singing, so should be interesting.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

a guy from work and i are starting a little acoustic/electric duo thing next week. for now focusing on covers by the hip, blue rodeo etc. between the two of us, hopefully we have a wide enough voice range to cover a lot of ground. it will be a challenge though.

I'm sure if I had vocal coaching I could become a decent singer but as it stands I'm really poor.

start in a different key within your range and then go higher or lower towards the real key in the song until you are perfectly on key to the song-i had trouble with under the bridge by red hot chili peppers for about a week or two but now im pretty good, somtimes you just need to sing it bad by yourself for awhile until you get better at it
-Let's just say i was testing the bounds of reality. I was curious to see what would happen. Thats all it was:just curiosity.
