Tried Some Stuff Out We Have Been Talking About...

I was with my friend today and he wanted to stop off a GC to get some strings. So I thought what the hell, I'll play with some stuff.

First guitar I picked up an american strat deluxe ash....beautiful aged cherry sunburst ...anyway, it played beautifully, I wanted to get it right away but I saw it was 1300$...when I get a new strat, this will be the new strat, it was gorgeous. I played it through a Fender '57 Tweed, and it sounded incredible. Then I played it through the Vox AC30, I couldn't really get the real sound of it because I kept the volume low, so I wouldn't be "one of those guys".

Anyway, I moved on and saw a Used Gisbon ES-135 with 2 p-90s....the sound was incredible, heavy guitar too. I looked to my left and saw the little Epiphone amps we have been talking about for the past week or two. I plugged it into the 15 watt version. The clean is spectacular, got a nice rich tone out of it. When I turned the over-drive up it sounded like crap, so that was the only fall back on it.

Then I played the Steve Vai signature Ibanez guitar. I hate it honestly...I don't know why.

Then I played a Taylor T5 :D
2400$....wow...I started messing around with it and then I handed it over to my friend (who is obsessed with Taylor) and he started playing some Mozart, and it sounded incredible, people were standing around him...it was great.

the SCNs are very nice and are now available as aftermarket sets.

no need to go to the parters on ebay anymore. even though it's cheaper, it's sad to see all those guitars get chop shopped.

knowing how nice my deluxe jazz bass is, yeah, i want a deluxe strat pretty badly as well but can't justify it with one strat on the rack already that i've already put SCNs in.

A little off topic of the Strat but I played this the other day through this Soldano combo and it was just heaven.

It was such a nice looking guitar.

I prefer the white studios. And it would suck to be lefty.

some folks have that degree of ambidexterity that they can learn either way. sadly, i'm not one of them.
  • Wait a minute I thought if you were playing tasteful licks thru tasteful amps, and not bad metal riffs thru solid state amps, it was alright to crank it up? Why can't GC have a seperate room where all the solid state and metal guitars are located (make this room extremely sound proof).

any word on whether the S-1 switching from the A Deluxe is available aftermarket now too?
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

nice. I know you can essentially get the same deal with a blend pot, but the S-1 switching is freaking cool.

it might get incorporated into the 62, the thing is I'm not precisely sure how it works and or how it's wired, the SCN's are noiseless the pickups I'm using won't be (and I'm not paying 350 bucks for Kinmans either thank you very much:D) it's probably of no concern and just wires like everything else, I'm just dragging my feet. Tuning heads will be replaced first. I'm still thinking of going with the Planet Waves do everythings.

the schematics are on fender's site. i believe you require 3 conductor pickups though for the S1's tricks.

yeah, that's what I was looking for. Something to find out anyway.

It's probably going to require some kind of stacked/dummy coil system.
