Well, as the name implies...built in Mexico. Often times the parts are made in the USA, then sent to Mexico for assembly.

The parts...such as the necks, body, aren't as nice pieces of wood as the Americans, so thats why they are sent down to Mexico. With the pickups...usually older designs that were once used in the American line.

Price wise...they can range $400ish to I'd say $700 depending on what exact one it is.

Any gutiar shop that carries Fender will have them, and they say right on the head stock made in Mexico.

As long as Squier isn't around the name what so ever, then yes 80-90% of non-american Fender guitars on Musciansfriend would be Mexi made. Cause you have your Koren and Japan made Fenders too....but we don't need to go there!

Damn Fender, can't they just make 'em all in one spot, lol...I just want a good solid Strat...but can't drop a grand on something right now...

Any of the Mexi's have S-1 switching?

Harrison, I'm assuming you're gonna answer my question - afterall, you should be a damn sales man...You could get me to buy a Squier!

Sorry, S-1 switching is only on the American Deluxe guitars right now. Though they are soon to be releasing the switch by itself I believe.

Try that one, its a Deluxe Player's Strat. Has noiseless pickups that were used in the American guitars as little as 4 years ago.

  • My first guitar is a royal blue, rosewood Squier guitar. It's a lower quality but it has a really good sound and I have really enjoyed it. My second guitar was a Artic white, maple neck Fender. In my own ignorant stupidity I didn't realize it was a Mexican version until I got home and took it out of the box. The quality is definitely better than my Squier and it sounds great. I love it and really don't plan on getting another Strat anytime soon, but within the next year or two I would like to get a Gibson SG special. I either want it in black or wine color. I've only been playing off and on for about 3 years. I have a lot to learn and am all self taught. I think that I am going to stick with my current guitars until I get some formal lessons and improve my skills.
