Im looking for an SG with P90s (just like PT) but i cant afford a real SG with P90s, so i was thinking about getting an Epiphone SG (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EGG1EBCH/) and replacing the pickups (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IMP4TBS/). I saw this site about altering SGs like this: http://www.everythingsg.com/howto/p90conv/1.html

Has anyone ever done something like this? Any advice or ideas? Thanks!

  • The only thing I would do differently is use Fralin pickups, but that's really just my personal preference.

(http://www.fralinpickups.com/p90s.asp - Just in case you are interested.)
  • Go with Seymour-Duncan Phat Cats; they're a take off on P-90s. they're reverse wound so that they hum cancel when both are on and sound amazing. They're what i have on my Campbell American Precix.
  • i think the major problem you're going to have with the epiphone is keeping it in tune.
