So I have been thinking about....

Having the pick ups changed in my guitar.

I have an Epiphone Les Paul. I got it about two years ago and I really enjoy it. I don't play in a band or anything, just for my own personal satisfaction. I am going to have a little extra money with my tax return and would like to splurge on my guitar.

But I was thinking about changing the pick ups to some Humbuckers. Now I am seriously lacking knowledge when it comes to this kind of stuff, so I was wondering if some of you knowledgable guitar junkies could help me out. I am looking for that warm, fat sound, you know what I am talking about.

Is this a good idea? What would you suggest I look at? Would it be better to replace both or just one or does it matter?

Where is a good place to get them? I have checked them out in local stores but there never seems to be much of a selection.

Again, I don't know much about this kind of stuff so be kind.

Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Some good places to get started.

    http://www.fralinpickups.com

    http://www.musictoyz.com

It's a great idea. The seymour duncan site should help you decide what you are looking for.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • Ahh, I knew Pac would come through! I just had to call you out on it, huh?

By the way, I was just giving you guys a hard time with my previous post.

    Thanks for the info!

Try the Tremonti pickups from PRS...they're a little pricy, but they'll make your guitar sound sweeeeet.

If you go to http://www.prsguitars.com you can actually click on the different ones and hear what they sound like.

  • So I have been checking out the different suggestions.

I liked the Seymour Duncan Nickel Cover Classic Covers for both the bridge and neck. I also like the suggested Tremonti pickups for the neck and bridge pick ups.

What are your thoughts on these two? I was kinda leaning towards the Tremonti pick ups.

How hard is it to do this work yourself? I figure since I know relatively nothing about it, I shouldn't be fucking with my guitar, I should probably let a professional do it, huh?
