Hey folks, I was curious to hear guitarists' take on this brand...I've got myself a Tele, but I'm thinking in the future for a next purchase I'd like to get a guitar that really breaks the mold of the strat/tele/les paul as the 'typical' rock guitarists' instrument (at least in the alternative/classic rock background I'm most well versed in). I went to a Beck show a while back, and I loved the sound he got out of a Silvertone electric, which led me to the company those guitars were modeled after, Danelectro. Anyone play a Danelectro and enjoy them, or not? What are your thoughts? I've played them myself and enjoyed them, but I'd love to know the takes others I have on them.

When the name was bought in what 96 or 97 something like that, and they re-released the long horn's, single cut aways and the double cutaways. I bought a double cutaway. I still own it, and it's my go to guitar. It's extremely thin and jangley, but that's what I like about it. Places descent, extremely light, but doesn't feel to fragile. I bought the adjustable saddle bridge for it. I like it a lot.
Still a picture of it on my bands myspace account. see link below.

Check out "How teh West was Won" Led Zep, and see PAge set your ears on fire with White Summer.

JEFF HARDY AND JEFF AMENT USED TO LOOK THE SAME

You have to put into consideration what they were originally. They were know as an inexpensive entry level type guitar. Then Page and other's got there hands on them, and the tone was emaculate. Believe it or not when they started making them again in the 90's the quality was 1,000 times better. They aren't going to play like a les paul or american strat, and those who buy them know this.

I like the Danelectros, and they are ok, but they aren't to the level of quality of the originals.

street price is in the $800 range
The Baritones (like Corin from Sleater Kinney plays) are my personal favorites. I like the 12 strings too.
See I've been told the exact oppositve about the dano's from the late 90's to the original ones, from guys that played them back then.
Those Jone's are awesome. Would love the DC 4 string bass version.

i want one of these!!!
freaking killer isn't it? It's probably similar to that small Nashville A tuned Tacoma Acoustic.
Thier sitars are cool too.
could be true, I've never played an original only the ones from the late 90's which were fine for the most part. I LOVE the baritone.
I do know the level of quality of the Jerry Jones guitars is much higher.
and when you say "Beck" uses one, are you talking about Jeff Beck or Beck (the "I'm a loser baby" guy). Jeff Beck primarily plays Fender Strats. I have no idea what the other guy plays, but I have no interest in trying to duplicate his guitar sound.
Yeah I'm going to have to send them an email. I can't find what they are made out of. Of course I might be reading right past it.
Still dig that short DC bass.

That early Zep stuff was a lot of tele (first album).

Indeed, Tele and Supro amp as well.
Jeff Beck is also known for the Esquire which looks a lot like a tele. The Boss plays one too.
All that old zep footage on how the west was won, is pretty cool. That Tele is working!
