I need a little help. I live in Portage Manitoba Canada and my band needs help promoting ourselves. Any tips would be cool!

Thanks.

As a marketing guy, (it is my day job, college degree and everything)

    Few things on this subject

MUSIC - It is all about the music first and foremost.
You need to get some tunes digitalized and float them out there. Look at the threads by exhausted, Greg puts himself on the line all the time by posting a song and saying hey what do you think.
Some of his stuff is really good other times it doesn't strike a chord with me. http://www3.telus.net/alcoholiday/

Post some mp3's online at your own website and try garageband.com or any other music site to post the tunes.
There is plenty of free hosting services available so get yourself some and get your music out there.

Your music is your promise to your fans. If your promise is weak then just like weak friends it will surely fade. In order to build a following you have to perform. Perform well, perform often and that means travelling and playing some dives.

But that is just my two cents. Good luck
So many amazing shows! Thank you.

the internet is basically the only way to promote youself widely these days when you're doing it yourself.

you can gig at all and gradually try to expand your playing area and audience if possible but the internet allows access to the world.

have a look at http://www.taxi.com. it's an A&R site and has some really useful information for making a go of it. and since you're in canada, look at SOCAN's site too, http://www.socan.ca.

Nothing beats (a working) web page. I hate when people ask you checkout their website and you look only to find it not working or its under construction with no completion date. Don't list a website that is not working because of YOU and not the computer.

Also, on a local level, never under estimate a couple of well-placed, creative and tasteful posters.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.
