Help with Amp Selection

I'm new to the board and was wondering if I could get some help with picking an amp. I've been playing guitar for about 9 years, on a peavey solid state practice amp. I've been jamming around with a group of guys for about a year, and we're playing our first show at a new years eve party. Since we're finally starting playing in front of other people, and since I have some spare cash, I want to buy a new amp. Here's some information that might help. I have a $1200 limit, and we play covers, that go from as soft as the counting crows, to as hard as Pantera, but mostly we stay in the hard rock genre. I was told that the Fender reverb series have good clean channels, and would be good for running effects through, but I really don't know a lot about tube amps. So if anyone could give me some suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks,

Shawn as a working musician this should be in your price range and give you plenty of volume. All the tones you need are inside.

Harmony Central Reviews.
You can always add an extension cab later. This is a solid flexible amp by a very reputable company. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -
Yes, the Mesa would be a good route.
What about a dual-rectifier? Would that be in the price range? With a 2x12?
Fender will definitely have the best clean tones of any tube amp out there, and with a good selection of stomp-boxes, you could get pretty heavy. But I don't think you'd pull of Pantera with a Fender amp.
Peavey's 5150 amp would work.
Marshall has a lot of tube amps that are pretty good, too. Even the new ones. The 3-channel models would probably be best for you.
But I'm with Paco, get a Mesa....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -
