Putting Locking tuners into a Les Paul

I'm planning on putting locking tuners into a Gibson Les Paul Special. I sent Gibson an E-mail asking for peghole size, which they gave me as .404". The problem is almost every set of tuning knobs I've looked at require 10mm, or .394". Does anyone have any experience with switching tuning knobs into an LP, and if so were modifications required?

I switched, but not to locking tuners. I upgraded to Grovers, and they fit in the holes perfectly.

I just ordered some Gotoh Keystone tuners for mine.

I know they won't fit because I've never been able to find parts that do, so we'll play it by ear when they get here.
