I want reverb...

I'm looking at the Holy (ier) (est) pedals by Electro Harmonix

and also

The Boss Reverb footpedal..

I need a relatively cheap unit.. let's keep it at an absolute max of 300$ (and you'd really have to impress me to pay that for reverb).

Suggestions/reviews are greatlyyyyyyyy aprpectiated. :)

  • Theres several options here...and really it depends on what you want.

Theres digital reverb, and then spring/tube reverb. Both have ups and downs, and to each man his own. For digital reverbs, here are some of the more reputable ones:

    - line 6 Verbzilla: its currently catchign on and alot of people are using it. Its fair priced at 150 bucks, and seems to be road worthy.

    - Electro Harmonix: worthy pedal, the more you pay for that series, the better you'll get.

for "real" reverbs they are getting hard to find in standalone units. Fulltone has a few i believe, but theres not alot. The most "sought after" are fender spring reverb units, but they are from the 70's and run abotu a grand on ebay. Next time you buy an amp, try and get one with a good, switchable reverb...i seem to find that the best,.

  • I have a nice Fender amp that I believe should be blowing me away with Reverb like all the other Fenders i've heard.. but the reverb knob has never worked!

I can turn it all the way up and not here a goddamn thing.

I need to try and get it replaced but it was a little while before I realized "hey.. my reverb can't be working right".

    You think they'll replace it?

I got it 2 years ago this coming christmas...

    fender warranty is 5 years.

line 6 verbzilla is the best value i feel. has some hiss.
the holy grail is alright but noisier. don't know about the holier, holiest.

they all hiss to some extent it seems, if they're in front of the amp.

    the boss units are terrible.
    the digitech is just ok.

I use the digitech, it's better than nothing but I just screw around currently. Nothing is better than a real spring reverb. If you're up to spending 250 on something from Van Amps, you might as well spend another hundred or two and get a real tube driven spring reverb, it's something you can use forever after all.

Verbzilla, probably still the best value.
