oh geez, can we narrow it down, I could write a book I think.

Even though I currently own zero, I desire oh about a thousand.

my love for germanium and silicon transistors and all out square wave sound knows no bounds.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • I've heard lots about Billy Corgan's vintage Big Muffs... no specifics though.

I either want something with power.. or with just a realllllly nice fuzz tone.

Billy Corgan Vs. Jimi Hendrix i guess you can say..

I'm leaning towards power though because I can get a great tone from my amp's OD.

I had a big muff (the newer, reissue one) for a bit but i didn't like it a lot.. it was allright.. but it was a tone killer.

If you write a chapter or two on your favorites then i can narrow it down further,.. i'm having the same problem.. i have no specific direction :)

try a Black Cat Super Fuzz. It's a copy of the Univox version from the 70's what the Beastie Boys used for Sabotage. Really cool powerful fuzz bomb

Or the good old standard fuzz face. Or, if you're looking for a 70's Big Muff the people at http://www.skreddypedals.com make some great stuff to consider. The Mayo should do those sounds you're looking for.

Ex. thanks. I hadn't tried one out yet.

Fuzz pedals are so much fun.
    I have the following:
    The Sybil by retroman
    Lovepedal BBB with OC76C's
    BJF Candy Apple
    BJF Purple Pink
Analogman Sunn face NKT with bass mod
Skreddy Ernie a Big Muff rams head clone
    D*A*M MKII with OC81 a tonebender clone
    ZVEX Fuzz Factory

Out of all of them the 2 BJF pedals are on my board and will never come off. If you had to pick one to buy and were on a budget it would be the Sybil as it is a GE and SI two channel fuzz box, you can run them independent or one into the other. The tones are endless.

If you want vintage tone the DAM pedal is hard to beat. If you want something that is usable and inspiring then go BJF. I do use a Big Muff and I like Skreddy's work a lot, but with that being said David Main at DAM and I came up with a new design for a box, really cool 60's poster art, a new name and a clone of the old foxey lady. It will be called the Kuma. I should have it shortly and I will let you know and post some pics.

  • I use the Russian Big Muff reissue...and it's dandy. Not good for those who like a more piercing tone, though, because it's a very thick sounding fuzz (as true fuzz boxes are). But I personally love it. Used on a clean amp setting, it provides nice distortion for soloing, used on a dirty amp setting, it massively expands the sound of the guitar, and truly makes it sound larger than life. It never leaves you to compromise your speed and is very good at keeping subtlities, unlike many other fuzz pedals. Also, it provides fabulous sustain and howling harmonic feedback at times.

I'm quite a fan as you can see.

    http://www.analogman.com/manuals/sunlion.doc

my current personal favorite the sun lion.

If you want a sample listen to Marc Ford (lead guitarist for The Black Crowes) on the current tour. He generally plays a Les Paul through Roccaforte amps, the pedalboard is on http://www.Analogman.com

I don't know about clips for the mayo, though Jason can probably give you a few clips of his ernie.

Kick ass, I want to play with a fender blender sometime too.

If you want to hear the sunlion just go listen to some of the current BC's stuff from thier current tour on their site. Marc Ford is the lead guitarist.

oh and look at the http://www.lovepedal.com stuff. It's cool too.

Then there's BJF but I don't want to scare you.

check out some clips of lots of stuff at http://www.custom-sounds.com

my favorite RM voodoo Axe clip

you can get an NKT 275 equipped fuzz card from Analogman too to make it similar to the sun face.

The Pro vibe is a good vibe too I like the ECS feature

The Black Beauty Balance is a one of a kind with matched OC76's. You gotta go with what ever Sean can get at the time or wait :)

I wanted a vintage box from Sean and he had just come back from some trip or something with a score of vintage NOS OC76s GE of course.

Fuzz is one of the best effects out there and there are tons of options.

The Mayo is no longer being made, the components just can't be had any longer. The Ernie and Zero fill its place perfectly. Skreddy is Mr. Big Muff and I am sure you would really like the Zero if you like the Mayo.
There are some clips of all three on Gear page just search for them.
