How many guitars in Down in a Hole?

I asked my guitarrist to play this, and after listening to it a few times, he said we cudnt cus it had like four guitars in it (he wasnt sure but he said there was minimmum two)....
is this true? or was he just being lazy, lol?

    There are a minmum of two but you can play it with one. Just doesn't sound as full and layered.

    In total from my understanding Cantrell uses six guitars in the song. I know a small effect of delay is used in it too. He uses acoustics, electrics, nylon sting classical, and I believe another type of guitar.
