hehehehe, glad to welcome you into the guitar playing world!

    try out ummmm

    betterman
alive (the chordal version that stone plays)

these songs are pretty easy... basically when you start out as a guitarist just download and print off fuck loads of tablature, regardless of difficulty, and learn to play it.
any guitarist can play anything.... it just takes a different amount of time to learn. guitar is one of those few intruments when you an jump in the deep end :-). If you want any pearl jam tablature message me :-)

  • Wow, Squirrel is turning into a gearhead...

Two songs that are STUPID-easy that nobody mentioned already...

    Black:

E7 and A for intro (it's a variation you can learn later, but fake for now)

E and A for the verse

C and Em for Chorus A

    D, C, and Em for Chorus B

    Indifference (Ben Harper version):

Em and D for the verse (I usually play a D9)

G, D, and Em for the chorus
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

i know you are looking for easy pearl jam songs to play...but you'll be surprised at how much you'll enjoy playing other music too...that said, here's a great site that provides instruction for easy songs: http://www.guitarnoise.com/easy.php

i'll add that the following songs that PJ plays are relatively easy:
    • hide your love away
    • last kiss
    • crazy mary
    • black
    • hail, hail
    • low light
    • Nothingman
    • Elderly woman...(by far the easiest)
    • I am Mine
    • Strangest Tribe (need a capo)

    ds
And no one sings me lullabyes
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky....

    Find there.
  • Yes, and if you tune your guitar to DADGAD playing "Small Town" is very easy. I might put up the chord shapes I worked out for this arrangement some time. Open tunings are much easier to play than one might imagine.

 why would you even go there? It doesn't get any easier in standard...
  • Well, I play and write a lot of songs in DADGAD and in fact, it's the tuning my guitars have been in, 95% of the time since about 1990. In fact the chords for "Small Town" in DADGAD involve one or two finger chord shapes. Dead easy. And it sounds right too.
  • Okay now post 'em! I'm curious now :D

95%?! I don't even know how to write a decent song in standard tuning, let alone i alternate tuning. How do you go about that?

Er, I will, after a bit. If I could be arsed to learn how to convert wma files to Mp3s, I'd post my demos here. ;)
