Did I get the wrong snare?

I had to change my e snare (the fat one) and asked for a snare for a western steel acoustic, but think I should've asked for a snare for a western acoustic with steel snares, because it sounds completely different....

My guess I got a snare for a steel guitar, but I could be completely wrong.. Is there a difference?
