Ok I was wondering about a Gibson les paul studio, I can get a decent deal on one, was just wondering if they are good guitars, and are they mainly made for going in the studio with or are they great gigging guitars also?

If you don't need the binding or silly top or "braz" rosewood (which is endangered anyhow), I'd say go with a studio if you must rock a Les Paul

LPStudio is a great guitar, man!!!! In studio or on stage it kicks ass
There's more of a difference than just the binding on the body. The Standard has a carved Maple top, binded to the Mahogany body, whereas, the studio is all Mahogony.
Best way is to try all of them, Weight, Feel, Sound and Looking. Looking good is just as important as sounding good. Why else would this thred exist.
