So I went to the keeley site for the first time today. Bad idea. I'm tempted to get a RAT with all the mods. But I'm also tempted to send him my ts9 to get modded...

I have the Keeley rat. It's just absolutely fucking great. It really comes alive when used with the TS9. I'd probably get the TS9 modded first because it's cheaper then go for the Rat.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I like how my TS9 sounds as is, but getting it modded is tempting...I just don't
want to change the sound too much.

The regular TS9 mod that keeley offers dosen't change the tone. It offers much much more volume and headroom and thus makes the gain control much more useable. Clean boost is cleaner with much more flexibility. It's essentially taking a good thing and adding to it.

Think Ferrari then bolt on 2 turbos.

The Rat is A LOT louder with A LOT more clarity than the stock rat. However, I really don't ever turn the gain past 10 to 12 O clock. It's not necessary. Above that it starts causing speaker rattle that I don't really like. Before that though it's a thing of beauty. They sound less like pedals after Keeley gets done with them. The regular rat of course is compressed, but the other 2 modes are far less compressed, the Mighty Mouse is probably the most useful at stage volume.

before you buy you might also check out another popular mod man.

http://www.analogman.com his is a bit different. He has worked with the likes of Trey Anastasio and Kenny Wayne Sheppard.
