here are many of the offerings from Fender.
You can learn about pickups and shop some of the best made here. But Fralins are probably more than you want to spend on a Mexi. I'd go with the fenders, but it's worth a look.

Take a look at impedence levels before you buy, generally the lower the number the brighter the p/u with a little less output. the higher it is the hotter and fatter (less highs more pronounced mids) it is.
Good luck.
I have a mexi strat and my brother had an extra lace sensor single coil (I think its black with blue writing) from his USA Tele he bought in the mid 90's. he wired it for the bridge setting and I like it alot better than the stock one. I use that position more than the others, so is it worth changing out the other 2 pickups?
I guess I like to play rock, not super beafy but I hate the twang I used to get before my brother changed the pickup. and to me when I use the neck pickup it sound very distant, i don't like it very much.
I also wanted to say thanks to you guys(anyone who posts questions and answers) because I mainly just browse these boards and try to soak up as much as I can
The blue, is a fatter (higher impedence) p/u modeled after 50's humbuckers so it's nice and sweet with more output than a stock mexi P/U.
There are other versions, Gold is used in the Eric Claption Strat (blackie) and the Jeff Beck Strat. It is the classic 50's bell like strat tone with smooth output.
Silver, is a Fat 50's single coil tone, not as much out put as the blue but fatter than the Gold.
Red is the hottest. Usually used in the bridge of strats. It is the most aggressive Fender lace sensor. Think of your blue version with a little more of an aggressive sound.
P/U's are a matter of taste so there is no really good and bad, it's primarily limited to the sound in your head and the dollars in your wallet.
I play Pearl jam, rage, sound garden, nirvana, old red hot chilli peppers the newer stuff aint half as good, and some heavier stuff (might get a new gutiar for the heavier stuff).
Thats what i like to play so any thing between nirvana and mikes 58/59 strat would sound good to me
I dont mind spending up to about e200 or $240

If that's not so important, Lindy Fralins are the best I think. But Seymour Duncan Vintage Stacks will also give you that sound.

I have a blue and hot gold. They have some nice stuff in their custom shop, too

what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama
when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
Yeah the Lace options are better than the fender lace options. I agree.

Lindy Fralin pretty much stomps everyones balls. But don't take my word for it. see
