I need some suggestions for some new songs for my band to learn. They can't all be Pearl Jam...

we already play Ledbetter and I Got Shit... we are working on Black. Also we play Fortunate Son and Rockin' in the Free World... pseudo PJ songs.

Any other songs that you all really like to here live?

tom petty's stuff is always cool but that's pretty dependent on the singer since tom's register is pretty high on the rockier songs.

We are probably going to try some Tom Petty... good idea, I would like to do Runnin' Down a Dream... easier to sing for me... the band is pushing for Free Fallin'... That will be a stretch, but I can be creative in how I sing.

Smile Empty Soul, Bottom of the Bottle
Jet, Are you gonna be my girl

Gel-Collective Soul easy to learn, & fun to tear up the lead. Goes over pretty well with crowds.

  • anything off of 'up to here' by the tragically hip is fun to play and easy to sing
formerly known as ad-rock, but i had to be the first with this one.
  • Here some songs I'd love to play live . . . if I had a band

    Stone Free - Jimi Hendrix
    Interstate Love Song - STP
Shine - Collective Soul (Gel was already spoken for)

lol, great songs. just out of curiousity, do you have the PJ concert may 3 (i think) at Penn state?

Animal, Even Flow, Alive, lots of Pearl Jam songs make great show tunes.

    Cherub rock-smashing pumpkins
    Lithium-Nirvana
    Siva-Smashing pumpkins
    Rhinocerous-Smashing pumpkins

lots of pumpkins songs are great like that.

Morgan Freeman/Clint Eastwood 08' for President!

  • we played Plush by Stone Temple Pilots and the audience got really into it, which is funny cus it's not very fast.
    Zac Whalen
  • hmm . . . no one seems to have mentioned any incubus, so even though you may all thoink they're utter rubbish, i'm gonna mention them. Drive is a great song, you can imitate the scratching by dampening the strings. Also pardon me acoustic is killer. Wish you were here is a great, heavy - break - heavy - break song and circles and anything from their album science are great heavy songs.

also, play old rock, it's the greatest, like . . . pink floyd's wish you were here. . . or something by eric clapton?
some things once spoken, can't be taken back
