Alright,
Well my good friend traded in his Marshall 2550 head for a Z-best 212 cabinet... great cabinet.
He isn't really playing out lately, so he agreed that I could have the cab and pay him back in the coming months. I gave him my other 212 as collateral and made my first payment ($) as well.
So I used the new cabinet this Saturday night at our gig. It really is a major improvement. The tone is a bit deeper, so I have a larger range on the tone knob that is not overly bright. The sound also really cuts well, very well defined and the notes are just huge coming out of that thing...
We A/B'd the two cabinets, the Z is much fuller and bigger sounding. The Fender cab was brighter and had less volume at the same amp settings. The Z weighs more, and it is about 2-3 inches deeper, so that would account for the tone differences.
The new guitar debuted this weekend too, it really worked well for the clean parts I needed to play, and with the Z setup, it isn't overly bright... sparkly instead.
We have another show on Friday night... should be fun.
