In a rut (beginner)

I have been playing a few years now off and on and am totally stuck in a rut. I haven't taken many lessons and I feel that every time I pick up my acoustic, I go through the same little set of chords. Can anyone recommend some different chords (I know mainly just basic stuff and some barres) or songs to push me a bit further. I'm sick of only being able to play 10 seconds of a bunch of different songs. What's a song other than Elderly Woman that's not so tough to play the whole way through. I love the easy Long Road, but can never figure out filler stuff that seems necessary when playing alone. Anything would be appreciated, I'm just boring myself and my wife.
I'm still alive!

Why not get out and take some lessons? Expand your horizons? :)

  • Black is pretty easy. And sounds great on acoustic.
Makes much more sense to live in the Present Tense.

Sorry just read your posting and I have a question. When you play Black do you use open or barre chords for the intro and verse progressions? The reason I ask is that I had a hard time learning Black when I first started and I was just wondering how other people played it.
Whips of your opinion down my back give me more

I just use a barre chord for the intro, but not for the rest of the song....

Most of Rage Against the Machine's stuff is realtively easy to play. Don't care much for a lot of Tom's 'solos' but the other parts are good.
