Bass players

edited June 2004 in Musicians and Gearheads
I was thinking of learning to play bass.
Is it easy?, it feels right even though I don't know what I am doing.
How long does it take to get to play good?
Chics like bass players, I think

Chicks like all musicians....I think? But keep in mind that most of them aren't interested in the real you. As far as bass goes, I think it is the same with anything....It depends how much time you put into it and how much you practice? The more time you put in now...the more it will pay off later on.
Only with our eyes closed can we truly see
  • I think that bass is pretty nice to learn, with guitar it seems to tight, whereas with bass it flows more, I started out playing guitar and then went onto bass after about a year, and I find it's way easier to play than guitar, but that's probably just personal opinion.

    Is it easy?

It's easier than rythm or lead guitar, yes, but it's not "easy" to learn unless you are good at reading tabs or sheet music.

It feels right even though I don't know what I am doing.

    Then keep doing it.

How long does it take to get to play "well"?

Depends upon what type of music you want to play, and how much/often you practise.

That is irrelivant. Play because you enjoy it and because it makes you feel good, not because of what someone else might think.
