How long will Ed play?

Into the Wild is only what 33 minutes long? Even if he played the whole thing that leaves a lot of time. Throw in No More, a couple of covers, a couple of Pearl Jam tunes, and a couple of speeches, can he make a 90 minute show out of it?

I imagine he'll be doing a lot of yapping between songs....and there's an opening act. However, if he's going to be leaping around, the show might be shorter... do you think there will be climbing?

Honestly, I can't see him playing more then 90 mins. Aside from Into the Wild songs, the Pearl Jam tunes, and his various covers he plays I don't know how long he can stretch it.
Keep in mind too...and don't jump on my ass because I love Ed and his music as much as anyone else, but compare him to Cornell or Bruce Springsteen who have done solo (mostly acoustic) tours...
Ed doesn't really hold up skill-wise with the guitar as the others mentioned. Almost every cover he plays is basically 4-5 chords and even then they are basically the same ones (G-A-D-C and subtle variations).

And if he is stretching them, I'd expect half if not more then half of the show to be covers.

This might be wrong of me to complain about, but for $65+, I hope it's at least 90 mins. Especially with my broke ass, I get a little protected of the $1 bill these days. I even pick up pennies.
  • Into the Wild all electric show.

I know, he will perform all into the Wild songs, while acting out selected scenes from the film in between!

    Agreed...60-90 minutes tops...

I'll bet he puts more time into practicing for this than for a full blown tour :)

definitely, if he has to learn the script to all those sock puppets...
  • Don't forget some uke songs. I think there are lots of PJ songs that will translate over solo...Off He Goes, Betterman, Man of the Hour, Long Road, Insignificance & I Got Shit even, etc... He could even do Come Back if he practiced a little. I mean, the possibilities of Vedder-authored-PJ songs is nearly endless in a solo acoustic show. I am sure he will talk a lot of course. I think it will be like a Dave/Tim acoustic show (DMB fans) but with shorter songs.

Count up every song Ed has ever done as a pre-set opener, then add on Into the Wild, new covers, and more PJ songs that he hasn't attempted solo much. I know he did Off He Goes at some Neil Finn club thing like 10 years ago.

    I say 1:45-2 hours.

I've said before, I think he will have a lot of guests showing up. If this happens, the show will be longer.
    I just don't see Ed playing a 2 hour+ show without "help".

Would be cool as Dave is a great musician, but I don't see it happening and I don't know what they'd play if it did.

i think he is going to play for a pretty long time. im so jealous of everyone that is going to be in attendence. i am not going to, for i am on the east coast. but you will definitely get your money's worth.

He'll play Into the Wild (most or all, really couldn't say), Man of the Hour, Trouble, I'm still here, Betterman, Picture in a Frame and maybe even something off of Live At Benaroya

He may even have a Cameo of Neil Young or even Stone or Mike for a song or two.

It should be interesting, he's definitely got plenty of material.

    Wish I could make it.........

PS: almost forgot he will for sure play No More

I personalize think everyone is underestimating Ed. He usually plays 2.5 hour shows with his band. He is going to play a fair amount of Pearl Jam songs, more than it seems like a lot of people on here are expecting. And he loves to play covers. I really believe it will be around 2 hours.
words seem so out of place.
