Just curious what you guys think is better for a tube amp. I'm looking to get a new one for about 5-600 bucks.

well since you came toa pj board, im gonna throw this out, my opinion..and very broad...

but unless youa re getting a marshall cab, vintage plexi head....go with a fender amp....

i personally have a very salty taste towards marshall amps...especially those damn valvestates..and the new models, just have way tooo much shit...

i like fender, you can make them kick you in the ass..and sound beautiful at the same time...

Depends on your style. The build quality is really about equal.

Marshalls are warmer. Fenders are more Glassy and Clean

I like some things about both of them and dislike things about both of them at that price range.

The DSL 40 is the Marshall in that price range

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe is the Fender in that price range.

Upgrading the tubes and the speaker to a Celestion Vintage 30 makes a huge difference in the HRD

The DSL 40 uses 4x EL-84's in the power section so it breaks up earlier. It also has a pregain in the clean channel so you can get a nice smooth od out of it.

The HRD uses 2 6L6's in the power section. The fender has more headroom as you would expect with 6L6's.

The DSL 40 is more chimey and traditionally warm and british.

It's really up to you the quality is the same on either amp.

I believe Fender still has the 5 year warrenty and Marshall is probably close to that as well.

New Peavey tube gear is pretty good. The Classic 30 and Classic 50s, the Delta Blues and Delta Blues 210, the 5150, and Triple XXX. I personally love the Classics, and the Delta Blues 210.

my classic 30 is beautiful on the ears. and the price will make some cringe to think they could have saved a few hundred and had a great sound as well. food for thought. if not go fender i think, i am burned out on the marshall sound. got a master reverb 30 for sale if any one wants. unless i keep it as a backup

    I love the Classic 50 4x10's

and the Delta Blues 2x10. Much moreso than the 1x15.

Personally I think the overdrive channel is a lot better than the Fender Hot Rods.

The black tweed looks cool too.

Now you can get the Fender Deluxe in Lacquered tweed though which is nice.
