Hey was anyone here at the boton 1 show?
Everyone around me wasnt really into death cab for cutie. Neither was I at the time. But I was amazed by the intensity of their last song. Their Bass player was going absolutely nuts. He was leaning so far back it was ridiculous and murdering his bass which he was just responsible for hammering to the beat as far as I could tell. This is the most impressed I have ever been with the energy of a bass player. You can tell by this comment maybe that I don't really appreciate bass. But it was pretty inspiring. Like that song, transatlantisim, tottally won me over. I now own their cd.
Anyway just thought I'd express my appreciation for this bass player.
I was also impressed by the fact that their music maintained its ambient quality live. I half expected it to be the type of thing where, live, the band has to combine 3 parts from the cd into 1 thin guitar part. You know those bands and songs? But it was really wicked and thick sounding wjen it was supposed to be.
