equipment/fender strat help

My friend has a red Fender Strat, but we can't figure out which model strat it is. He bought it for $300 used, and the model number, which we used to find where it was made (Japan) and what year (1989-90) is E947161. It looks like it has the vintage pups of "60s Reissue" but for some reason he doesn't think it's the reissue. Do any other model strats use the vintage pups? Can anyone help identify the model of this guitar?

Fender made a jap RI in that era, it's probably that guitar.
