Are you going to use it or just stash it?
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
  • little of both...will be kept in near mint condition

  • if i had the cash i would get it. imagine the tonal possibilities with those 3 pickups. if i had it i would gig it for sure. those things are meant to be played. its not like the value will go down too much if you get a few scratches on it.

I guess it really depends on how much of a Townshend fan you are.
The (non Townshend) Reissued DELUXE model sold for $1500 brand new in '05.
I don't know if Gibson adding a DiMarzio Dual Sound pickup and a vinyl number is worth another $2.8k.
As I said, it really depends on how much of a Townshend fan you are - it's basically just a collectors model.
The Question is: is owning a Townshend model worth $3.8K to you.
You can get a similar guitar click: Gibson Custom Historic 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS with P-90's for $3.1K.
Then just stick a vinyl number on that one and you'll save yourself some $$$ ;)

Having 3 pickups is not nearly as great as it seems. I have a Les Paul Black Beauty (albeit an epiphone) with 3 pickups and honestly it isn't all that much more versatile than my other guitars.
