  • i was hesitant to get anything other than a gretsch hollow body .... but didn't feel like spending the $$$$ for the white falcon...

i got me an Ibanez Artcore semi-hollow for about $375...and I rather enjoy the sound, the feel, and the look as well.

just pick a few up and play them.

Do you want a true hollowbody or a semi? Humbuckers or P90's?

  • I have an Epiphone Elite Byrdland that is outstanding. I have no qualms with it at all. Beautiful sound and easy to play (because of the shortened scale). I'm hoping its not too much of a bear to change strings on.

I am having a First Act Delia built for me. It's actually done, and waiting for my pickups to arrive. :)

  • The Epiphones are really nice, the Casino's kick ass.

If you want something a little lower on the price schedule, the Ibanez ArtCore models really are worth every dime they're selling for. Very playable, good hardware, nice tone... I might replace the pickups after a period of time, but even those are pretty nice.

  • There's a nice sounding ibanez.

gibson 50s single pickup sounds lovely

Lots of options for the hollowbody thing... the Ibanez are nice, the epiphones are cool too... I really like my Gretsch, probably the most well made guitar I have ever owned... really a thing of beauty.

  • Another vote for the Ibanez Artcore. If you are on a budget but still want a nice looking and more importantly, good sounding guitar, you can't go wrong with these! Unfortunatly, mine is in the shop after the stand fell on top of it yesterday. :( It messed up one of the pickups. It knocked it out of place up against the strings. At first I thought I'd be able to just put the pickup back into place but it wasn't budging.

Anyway, you shoudl try one of these out. I've never heard a bad thing about them.

I believe that Yamaha makes a few hollowbodies as well. I'd go Yammy or Ibanez before I went Epi personally...but that could just be brand perception hoo hah. Play 'em and get what feels the bext to you :)

  • you should seriously check out Heritage Guitars, just google it. basic web site but the guitars are brilliant. ive played the LP shape H140 and i was sold. its made by the guys who used to work for Gibson and started there own company (Kalamazoo) in the Old Gibson factory when they moved to Nashville.

Some of there Hollowbodys are the nicest i've ever seen, and alot cheaper than gibson.

    take a look;-)

  • I have this one:

It's an Ibanez Artcore series; doesn't look as "old fashioned" as some of the other Artcore models. I absolutely love it; the tone is awesome, and for the price (I think I paid about $380), you can't beat it. PRS also makes a model that looks very similar to it, but the price is a little to high for me.
