ok ...
try and base this on something other than just looks.
they are all roughly the same price.
Two are from 1976, one is a new '69 reissue.
One '76 (the beautiful tobacco) has Duncan Distortion models installed, and i would have him change them back to the regular gibson golds ...
It also has a fairly significant scratch on the back (not in the ebay pics, privately sent to me) ... nothing horribly crazy, but it is a plainly visible scratch.
the other two are basicaly mint.
so, based on their age, their condition, what anyone knows about why you would or wouldn't want a new production LP over an old production LP (age of electronics, quality of workmanship, etc) ? ? ?
so here are three ...
which one should i go with
a. based on condition, and quality of the guitar
b. based on personal preference for the visual aspects
explain.
thanks:

Tops are the last thing I look at, they all have to be players first. Some people are bothered by heavy LP's, some aren't.
Any 70's LP is going to be heavy, that doesn't mean the tone wont be there.
I would go and play a bunch and see what you like, the ones you posted are all pretty much priced at high retail and you could do better IMO.
les paul forum is a very good place to start.
Some people just wont buy new Gibsons because of their attitude these days. Buying used is one way of getting what you want without supporting Gibson first hand, if that is the case for you then I would go to Dave's Guitar in Wisconsin he has a web site, or Mark's Guitar Loft. If you want new it is hard to beat Music123 pricing and I can give you an email address to get a response quickly.WHAT IS THAT NOISE?

on a side note:
how come i can't even find ONE
LP CUSTOM
on either music123.com or
musiciansfriend.com
they have plenty of standards and "custom SHOPS" but no good 'ole
Les Paul Customs
what the fuck is up with that?
i swear $2100 is good though.
Thought they were usually like $2800 and up new.
but i can't even find one to compare right now.
what gives? If I was to smile and I held out my hand

there are no non-custom shop LP customs anymore.0
-
Yep no more and Gibson only has 4 or 5 dealers who can post pics of stock.WHAT IS THAT NOISE?

a DO WHAT?
what's the purpose of that ?!?!
since when, btw?If I was to smile and I held out my hand

couple years ago.
what's the purpose? i don't know. presumably it's a much better quality guitar than, for instance, my 96 LP custom. but it also costs a lot more.0 -
Accountants my friends. Accountants.
Gibson refuses to build fantastic guitars for under 2 grand.
a custom with it's time consuming binding, ebony FB, and upgraded everything they can get more for, so they do.
I like numero uno. Clean and nice, great price.
WHat really irks me. Gibson Memphis. Ok, let's take our shapes, and put our logo on top. Give them mat finishes and then use poplar backs and sides to cheapen them, meanwhile we'll offer Epiphone Elite for the exact same price, using good (correct) woods and good hardware and finishes with average pups and build them in Korea and sell them at the same price as our Memphis line.
Funking Gibson. 5 ply maple, means 5 ply maple. A 335 is not made out of poplar. Fender Chinese squires are made from lam poplar. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

?????
All LP Customs are built in the Custom and Historic shop now. Including, of course, the 69 re-issue.
With minor haggling, a new LP Custom can be had at about $2500 in either Alpine white or black.
Yes Charlie Brown, they are made in the custom shop.
