Learning the Guitar

I have just bought myself a guitar and am finally gonna learn to play a bit but i dont really have the time or money to go get lessons, with a good learning guide/book how is my chances of teaching myself and sounding decent after a while?

    I taught myswelf more than any of the lessons I took taught me. I just learnt the basics in lessons. Then I started learning stuff on my own. It comes quicker to some than to others.

    I would try and learn some basic chords, e, d , g, a.....and learn to switch between them comfortably. Then just learn some rythum. your gonna get frustrated and wanna quit, just dont.

    I am not a good player. I learned all by myself. But I can play enough to amuse myself. I can play abunch of different parts and a couple whole songs. you can definately learn on your own and make good progress adn have a great time!!! Which is what matters the most.

    And how bout Ladainian Tomlinson. Best RB in the NFL on that shitty shitty team!

    Lessons aren't really essential unless you need someone to stand over you and make you play. hendrix didn't take lessons and Cobain only took enough to learn Back in Black then quit. Just learn the basic chords and things like that. There's good resources at http://www.giventowail.com http://www.olga.org and http://www.harmony-central.com
