how i love this song, makes me think of my 12 year old acoustic guitar =)

This old guitar ain't mine to keep
Just taking care of it now
It's been around for years and years
Just waiting in its old case
It's been up and down the country roads
It's brought a tear and a smile
It's seen its share of dreams and hopes
And never went out of style
The more I play it, the better it sounds
It cries when I leave it alone
Silently it waits for me
Or someone else I suppose

This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar

This old guitar has caught some breaks
But it never searched for gold
It can't be blamed for my mistakes
It only does what it's told
It's been a messenger in times of trouble
In times of hope and fear
When I get drunk and seeing double
It jumps behind the wheel and steers

This old guitar ain't mine to keep
It's mine to play for a while
This old guitar ain't mine to keep
It's only mine for a while

This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar
This old guitar
"ah fuck it get in trouble"

    great album....
  • I like 'em all...but I like "far from home" so far the best... I hope he plays some good stuff on Conan this week!

nah, its pretty much identical...ok not identical.

Doesnt matter, y oure right, neil does do this, although i think this is the most obvious of all. Havest moon is such a distinctive riff.

unlike all of greendale can sound the same...but those are just chord progressions...
  • Neil sticks to the basic chords most of the time, so there's a lot of similar sounds...but it's his solos...especially live...man I saw him in Hershey in '03...it was sick. looking forward to conan all this week!

yes i noticed that........i've been giving this album a chance, but its really not doing it for me.......the backup singers are soooooo cheesy......especially when they say "prarie wind blowin' thru my hair" like 10 million times, i always have to cut the song.........having said that, the great thing about neil is that he writes so much music that if you don't like one album, there will be another not far behind
"I'll tell you what: If all I had was Pearl Jam, and I didn't have another band in the world, I would not be worried. Because in there is the essence of making great music. You don't have to use it all at once, but it's there." - Neil Young
