Motion Picture formed in 2003 in New York during the height of the city's rock rebirth. With guitar driven songs and pounding drums, the band hit the ground running with a highly unique and innovative sound, creating a distinct voice within a crowded music scene. Shortly after forming, they released their debut album Anhedonia, a cracked collection of stomped-out guitar rock that left people either scratching their heads or pleasantly surprised. David Madden from Splendidezine put it best: "There's a difference between liking art and respecting it...I really respect Anhedonia."
Their sound is best described as a cross between Blur and Elvis Costello, with the vigor and drive of the Pixies. But if you really want to know what they're like, it’s best to see them live (usually in Boston or NY, but that's expanding).
