okay, so i'm kind of stuck with what to do now...... have been playing for the past 6 months or so, and am now at the stage where i am comfortable with a few chords (A,C,D,E,G,Cadd9,Em,Am,Dm) and can smoothly change between all of them...... but what now. have just started with bar chords (E, A) but not so good yet. is there anything in particular i should be focusing on at this stage that will help me develop my playing a bit faster???? Any suggestions would be great!

is there some trick to barre chords, or just keep practising...... keep getting that buzzing noise on either the A string or the B and high E......... started a little bit of fingerpicking, just stuff like Release and Burn One Down.... getting there slowly. Scales??? please explain!
Now, scales are a bit different, and do require some theory. But the major and minor-pentatonic scales are the biggies.
E-major scale:
e
0--2--4--
B
0--2--4
G
1--2
D
1--2--4
A
0--2--4
E--0--2--4
A-minor pentatonic:
e
5--8---
B
5--8
G
5--7--8
D
5--7
A
5--6--7
E--5--8
Try practicing these scales going up, then coming down, then up and back down. Then you can move these around and use the shapes in different keys and improvise within them, to make a good solo structure. Minor-pentatonic scales are pretty key ingredients to blues playing...
Am Pentatonic:
E
5----8
B
5----8
G
5----7
D
5----7
A
5----7
E--5----8
E
2---3
B
3---5
G
2---4---5
D
2---4---5
A
2---3---5
E---3---5
Okay, technically that was a blues pentatonic scale, not a straight pentatonic.
