Do any of you know any effective ways of sound proofing a room or at least dampening the sound that will come out of the room? I want to be able to play my drums/guitar/piano without everyone telling me to stop.

how much are you willign to spend? you could fully proof the room. Is tehre any heating/air ducts in the room? block those, also mabe hang curtains around the whoel room that will stop some of the noise, but heavy bass work is really hard to get out of a house.

    i've done some cheap sound-proofing.

In my basement....I have those ceiling tiles that can be moved kind of what they have in most high schools....i put some egg crates on top of the tiles (hidden) and that helped damper some sound...

    and also with drums...

I bought some large planks of wood (6 feet by 8 feet)...bought 3 of them....and on the bottom took larger chunks of wood (6 feet long, 1 foot high, 2 feet thick) to keep it sturdy....

And i attached eggcrates to that, surrounded the drums with it, and it helped with dampering sound as well as for mic'ing the drums....gave it a sound I really enjoy.

All in all it cost me around $75 for all of it...and egg crates i stole from people in my dorm when i graduated so I had an abundance.

    hope that helps

yeah just dig a 400 foot hole, pump out all the water, then buid a 10 foot ceiling, and then get someone else to fill the hole back up...they wont hear a thing! just make sure you hook up yoru mic cables, and leave the one end out of the hole before filling

I'm not sure how well this works, but one of my old teachers told me he did this in College.

He said he took those yellow mattress cushion things, the ones with all the bumps, and put them all over his dorm, walls and ceiling, with the bumpy things showing, flat side to the wall. He said that really stops a lot of the noise.

Sorry though, I don't really know what those "yellow mattress bumpy cushion things" are called though.
