new gear set up question

I had my Strat set up last night, took it home and the selector seems to only sound right in the furthest right position. I am getting a ton of cracking and low volumn levels on the combos and middle, left selectors.
Any ideas?
I played it on a music store amp and didn't hear any of this, is it possible my brand new amp is toast?
Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the switch is grounding out somewhere... that's just a guess. It's like trying to fix a car over the phone... impossible... take it to someone who can look at it, they'll figure it out. Unless you have a solder gun and spare time...
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

I figured troubleshooting is next to impossible on the net :)
But I aslos figured it was worth a shot asking if was easy to fix or a common problem.
    Thanks!

take it back to the store and tell them it's broken. They should fix it for you.

It is not common. It should work perfect when it's shipped. It's most definately a grounding problem.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
