Yeah, it just doesn't look right... an LP junior would be my choice for a single pup guitar.

Plus, I practically live on my neck pup... that's where the rhythm is... plus, I prefer the lead tones on a neck pup... just my thing.

I agree with you on it looking a little weird, I guess thats why I like it. Like a saab or pug, its so ugly its cute :)
I saw and it and thought hmmmm, can't say I have seen many of these, P90, GT, fat neck. Good price too.

That thing is fuckin' sweet. Of course, I'm a huge sucker for GT's, but still... and the single P-90 would suit me rather well. Definitely lends itself to simple setups, would be a lot more suited plugged straight in, or maybe thru ONE pedal. Maybe.

The only thing that puts me off (well, besides the hefty collector's price) is the single-piece bridge/tail. I'd rather have a plain ol' stop tailpiece and a ToM.

Of course, if you can deal without the finish and the carved top, you can get a Melody Maker for about $600.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

I found a casino the other day with a medium neck and a single P-90 at the middle. I should have bought it.

That thing is cool, I've never seen a carved top with a single P-90. I'd still rather have an R6 though I think.

Well, that, and an SG JR already has the fat neck and single P-90 and dosent come with a back pain perscription.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I have played one of those single pup Casinos, it was cool.

I am considering the JLennon sig Casino as well... it has the hollowbody and the P-90s... or the Hamer Newport. Similar with Phatcats, hollowbody, and a bigsby.

I have to really do some research on these options to make the best choice. Really nothing is off limits.

The newport is killer. You could always swap one phatcat for a filtertron style and get that gretsch tone. I just like the 335 style body better. There's also that 335 style guitar from that guy from the Strokes. It's got the hum sized P-90's as well. You could easily drop a 57 classic in one spot.

That was kind of fun. It always ends up that way, as an internet post can never be a complete thought or fully explain the context of your statement.

By the way, I don't like SRV. ;)

Definitely a lot of options running around. I think we can say I am leaning towards a single coil guitar... something with a lot of mojo.

If anyone suggests a Townshend SG, I may throw something at them. :D

Ah you know you could get an original 67 SG with P-90's for $2200 :D

I wouldn't discount an ES 125. You could get one of those and an Elite 67 Dot for what you are paying for the 335 or the R's. Not worth as much in the end though probably.

an SG in polaris white could change my view... I will say that.

I would like the guitar to have some "value" so relic fenders are cool too. However, I think the key is tone. I like P-90 tone, so I should focus there.

The polaris white or that badass blue color that is super rare. I think it would be cool to have one of the Les paul SG's and swap all the PU's for the Hum sized P-90's. Ebony Fingerboard, pearl block inlay, grover heads, P-90 growl.

Guild S-100 should be in that mix too.

no need to go with fender, you already have an awesome tele. Unless you want to go Thinline, P-90 neck, S-90 bridge, bigsby.

Talk to my man mr. Nash, http://www.nashguitars.com

    very very reasonable.

They make a custom shop SG Special available in cherry red, polaris white, or tv yellow. Cool stuff there... definitely a consideration.

a tele with a humbucker neck and a bigsby would be nice.

That's pretty cool, the tele neck likely suits you better. It's just cool to have the resonance of a hollowbody.

TV Yellow is a cool color too. I'd rather have it in a JR though.

Honestly, I would like something with a 24 3/4" scale. Different feel than a fender neck.

I think a TV yellow SG would be pretty unique... but I don't know if I would rather have that than a P90 goldtop.

Not that I wouldn't take a free one, but it has the slim taper neck... I am sure it is a nice guitar though.

Nigel Tueffnel approves of the goldtop... although apparently it is a fall hazard.

Alright so SG Special, R6, R4 Oxblood, Hamer Newport, Epi Casino... this is the current short list.

Hey House, I've been wondering what a pair of Phat Cat or other humbucker-sized P-90's would sound like in one of these:

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/fg=121/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/515207/

Mahogany body, mahogany neck, set-neck construction, 24.75" scale. The goldtop is very *cough cough* Gibson. I love mine to death... and it's a pretty good deal, all things considered.
