Anybody think there is a big difference? I have two Fender Jazz basses and I'm thinking about putting Flatwounds on one of them. Anyone had any experience with them?

I like Flatwounds ok. They are darker not as bright. Nice and smooth though. They sound awesome on a fretless.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I love flatwounds... I sorta prefer the round-wound sound, but if I had a second bass, I would have flats on it in no time. Can give a fretted bass nearly fretless sounds, but with more reliable pitch. You can always string it up and see, then convert back if you aren't a fan... But I say, "Go for it!"
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
