What I mean is if the guitar player plays an A power chord what would the bass play. I got a bass for Christmas, i'm alright i Guess, but I need help with bass chords /scales for songs containing bar chords. Any webpage containg charts and finger patterns would be nice if there are any.

Thanks

  • Well, here's a quick map:

    G |G#|A-|A#|B-|C-|C#|D-|D#|E-|F-|F#|G-|
    D |D#|E-|F-|F#|G-|G#|A-|A#|B-|C-|C#|D-|
    A |A#|B-|C-|C#|D-|D#|E-|F-|F#|G-|G#|A-|
    E |F-|F#|G-|G#|A-|A#|B-|C-|C#|D-|D#|E-|

Now, the key of A-major has the following notes:

    A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#, A

You can therefore play any of the following notes and be in-key:

    G
    1--2--4--
    D
    0--2--4
    A
    0--2--4
    E--0--2--4

You can also "root" the E-string at A, and play the following:

    G
    6--7--9--
    D
    6--7--9
    A
    5--7--9
    E--5--7--9

Someone will now show you the circle of fifth's, which I am too tired and lazy to post...
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
