so i was getting my new set of strings all nice and intonated, but still, I have a bit of a problem. my g string. the only string that doesn't like to keep good intonation. if i set it perfect at the 12th, i'm very sharp in the first few frets. so, i've always kind of compromised by going a bit flat at the 12th. how can i correct this?? it bugs the hell out of me :(

  • You could start by stop thinking about racy underwear...
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
  • term,

before you set the intonation, make sure the truss rod is set perfectly, then make sure the action is set perfectly as well, then do the intonation. always do it in that order. my guess is it might be something with your truss rod. also, make sure your G is tuned perfectly, use a chromatic tuner ;)

  • hmm, now that i look at it, there is a very slight bowing to it..i'll correct it and report back again

Must be satisfying to get that thing in tune after five years of hard work! :D

Congratulations! Once you do that once, though, you can do it again and it'll only take a year or so. ;)
