computer thing

Some friends of mine have a program thats lets you record music on your computer from your guitar. There's a preamp and it plugs into your computer and you can edit the sounds and stuff, and i think it comes with some drum beats and stuff.
anyway, does anyone know anything about it, what's it called??? they don't remember...

    literally hundreds, maybe even thousand "Interfaces" for instruments into computer, and they come as external units, connect to usb drives, or actually become an internal interface, and then as far as recording programs it is definately in the thousands. http://www.musiciansfriend.com will offer the interfaces, some coming with software. Try using trials, or friends, etc to see which accomadates your PC skills, and interface the best, after that its just trial and error untill you get your desired sound. hope this helps
