    start with a GREAT esquire.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

  • what's the benefit/draw of having unlimited budget and using an esquire over a tele? are they easier to modify or is it just a personal choice?

Does he have hot rails on his sunburst tele that he uses for songs like Radio Nowhere? Seems like there's more gain than usual on that song.

im pretty sure its a regular tele bridge pup, looked like it on the today show
plus it sounds far too much like a tele to be anything different than a stock tele pup
ill let you kno tomorrow after i see him in concert :)

I was on the upper deck near the back the first night, and in the lower section in the back the second night. By no means great seats, but the entire place is electric. They pretty much left me on cloud nine, which I still haven't really gotten down from completely. :D

Oh, and to make this M&G related, keep your ears open during Gypsy Biker. Bruce and Little Steven tear the roof off the place when with their guitar solos at the end.

im actually going to tonight's show....i remembered gypsy biker from the warm up show and it kicked major ass, made me look forward to the new album.

I think i'm in the lowers behind the stage so perhaps I can see the rig a bit better (amps are behind or below the stage)

I'm making it my new goal to get a '52 reissue tele by the end of summer '08. Funds are tight with college, but I think if I work my job hard enough and I'm smart with my money I'll have more than enough by that point. But I have the tour poster (which is basically a close up of one of Bruce's teles) to keep me motivated until then. :D

It feels like forever since I last made a significant guitar purchase, so it's nice to have someting to work toward. I played one at Sam Ash the other day and I swear it was calling my name. Oh, and I'm gonna name it Rosalita too.

after seeing tonight's show from the back of the stage...as they were breaking down I was able to see most of bruce's rig...didn't see the heads (only saw Gary Tallent's rig in that aspect...bruce's must have been somewhere else...didn't have much time before security was kicking us out)

but in terms of pedals that his tech uses for him live are:

    boss dd3 delay
    boss mega distortion
    boss dyna drive

  • His classic butterscotch tele (the one on the born to run cover) is actually a tele body with an esquire neck.

His classic butterscotch tele (the one on the born to run cover) is actually a tele body with an esquire neck.

    exactly
its actually a combo of a Telecaster ( body ) and Esquire ( neck ) and he bought it in Belmar NJ back in 70s for 185 bucks . It is the actual one viewed on the BTR cover ,..as well as numerous DVDs , Bootlegs, as well as Hammersmith Odeon Show . Its actually beat to hell and is filled with chips and dings . Funny thing is the guitar was used in 0 % of the composition of the BTR album . ( All of it was composed on the piano )
