pixelator effect

I know the digitech vx400 and other vocal processors of the like have this effect, but I"m looking for it to use with guitar...I know you can plug the guitar into the vocal processor but I'm just wondering if there is a certain pedal that actually does this

i remember boss had a guitar processor a few years back (1999/2000?) that had this effect...just wondering if anyone had info on it
