I've had my ebow since Yield came out....loved the tone from wishlist that Ed got...found many uses for it....including his style during the RVM jams that he's been doin...

But when it comes to the WWS intro and raking it....I cannot get a sound out of it...does anyone have advice on this...or perhaps a small little video of them doing it so I can mimic their movement? Ebow placement help would be usefull too...anyone else with the same problem?

make sure your ebow is raking exactly over the magnets of the pick up you are using. (usually the neck pickup works best with an ebow) if you got yours with the book like i did it will explain the idea of ebow arpeggios which is pretty much the same thing that eddie is doing with it.
I'm not saying stupidity should be a capital offence, but what say we take the safety labels off everything and let nature run it's course?

  • i managed to perfect the intro tonight, if you have an ebow plus make sure your switch is nearest to you, make sure you have the dirt (distortion) on and it will pick the ebow no worries, you have to make sure you have humbuckers really, i have p-90's like ed so i can get it just right don't know how it would sound on a gibson humbucker or fender single coil

    leeds 26/08/06....electric
    paris 11/09/06.....crushed...but estatic
    wembley 18/06/07.....oh yes

'listen...you can hear the sustain...you just hold that note and you can go get a bite whilst its still going'

  • Hey fellas

If you're still interested (as you seem to have it cracked).

Check out the AOL sessions for the new albumn, theres a link on the pearljam web site.

You can clearly see ed using the ebow on WWS (at least I think so, I have to confess Ive not a clue what one is......).

If you've not seen them take a look anyway, great to see the band play in a similar studio style to "single video theory"
