Well let me preface this saying that as of July 11, 2008 - this thread is not ready to be submitted.
Let me also preface that by asking: Would it be ok if we compiled a list of questions that we all have (as I'm seeing a lot of the same topics pop up, and of course, the confusion that ensues) to be submitted to our favorite wonder in the world, George Webb.
If this is possible, then we are all go:
M&G'ers - what questions do you have? I'll keep the tally in this first post, and I'll start
1. Is it possible to get a newly revised signal flow chart including rack effects?
2. Could we please see some Tech notes from "Pearl Jam" (if available)
(spreadsheet like in the synergy section)
3. How are the pedalboards powered (ie: Brick, Pedal Power Pad, etc) and do they run through a power socket on the board to a good ol' fashioned extension cord into a power strip or otherwise?
4. Any changes to the accessories
(picks, strings/gauges, capos, mic's *ed's switching of mics during shows*)
5. Can we get an approx amount of guitars available in the "warehouse?" and each guys top 3?
Mike: 59 les paul, 59 strat rosewood, 59 strat maple?
Stone: 59 Pink "Frankenstrat," ?, ?
Ed: Tele, Schecter PT, Gibson SG?
Jeff: Red/Black Modulus, Wellstone Bass, 12 stringer?
Matt: Any chance he gets to play he loves it?
6. What brand of cables and patchlink cables does the band use (also any wireless gear)
Secondary Questions, if there is time
1. What insurance company do the guys use to insure their equipment while on the road?
2. What is the earliest known signal flow diagrams for the band? (guitars/bass, drums if available)
3. And one fine gearhead would like to know if you're currently available
Thank you everyone.

Hello wonderful friends at the 10C, it's Seth Dolled again asking for your amazing help once again.
Over on the message pit in the Musicians and Gearheads page, we have collaboratively put together some frequently asked questions from over the past few years regarding the bands gear. While using the wonderful resources that we have (our ears, tour photos, fan photos, fan run-ins with techs, and of course, any video clip we can find)....we are able to answer some of our own questions.
We were hopefully wondering if there was any chance we could submit some of the questions to George Webb, or even anyone else familiar with their gear. There is no rush to get these answers as we're all still enjoying trying to figure it all out ourselves. We're just trying to be polite in having some harder questions that we have to be answered so we can go back to our gearheaded lives

And here is the cut & paste of the questions:

Again there is no rush, and we do know the 10C is actively doing everything they can for us and if this is too much - we do understand, but thank you for all your hard work and your time.
We all hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Seth Dolled and the rest of the M&G'ers that allowed me to send this message on their behalf!

Why don't you publish ??
Evrything else gets done, books, tour posters, T-shirts,a damn bootleg of every damn concert, but what really matters is the SONGS, and they get diddly squat.
Everything else is peripheral.
OK, so the Ten book was not perfect, but it was a big improvement over the PVG chord books in the wrong key I grew up on, so get over it, get on the blower to the boys at GTW, and publish a box set of all the songs.
The hard work of transcription has been done, get some pros in to do the standard notation, which is what I really want, for note duration, and make me happy.
What if I tell you I'm dying of cancer, and it's my lying, I mean dying wish ?? Will that help ?? I could make it a really interesting cancer if you like.
+ 1000000
Not really. For a start, I could take that recipe, but it will not make me the master chef, nor will I cook the dish as well.
The info is there, at giventowail, which has unofficial approval from PJ. Did you notice, with so many tab sites beign taken down over copyright issues, that GTW is still up and running ?
Anyway, as I said, I know they will never do it. T-shirts are much more important.

My point is, PJ is not really concerned about people "stealing the recipe".
I have downloaded a ton of the songs on GTW, but, no standard notation, and goddamned messy, pages stuck in books and blowing all over then place.
Gimme nice published bound books any day.
It's a lost cause though.

How are th boards made and pedals set up on the board (what goes into what)
Are there certain pedals used for a specific song (that might be too in depth)

I think these answers have actually been answered in the past...I doubt I'll be able to find it, but off memory:
pedal boards are made out of wood and carpetting, hand made by their techs (this was 98ish, and I'd assume they continue in the same fashion)....typically powered by power pads or bricks, something of similiar fashion again....
how the pedals are set up on the board should be covered in an updated signal flow diagram.
certain pedals for certain songs - it's probably too in depth for anyone to take that careful notes of, and of course, it depends on how their feeling at that moment as well....it'll be one of those (whatever you can hear, and when you hear it)
And as for certain amps for studio and the road:
Of course. In the studio they have tons of options ranging from all different types of hi-wattage amps, to small watt amps (mostly if not strictly tube)...plenty of different combos and cab's to choose from.
For the road it was said that they take the most versatile of their choices, and the ones that'll cover the broadest range of sound they need, and of course, what they think would sound best.

Keep em coming!
We might only get this one shot!

What were Stone's and Jeff's first set up like when they started playing?

can't really bombard them too much
if not then, Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO; Go Ninja, Go ninja, GO!
thanks again guitarhero27. will be great if we can get a response.
I will post a new cleaner thread for the answers we have
Thanks everyone, especially those at 10C!
