Is a Ukulele in the key of C?

I'm wondering because I'm starting to play, and I'm wondering if I can just play all the guitar songs I know the same chords (i.e. if I can still play G-D-F-G for Hide your Love Away) on a Uke, or if I'm going to have to do any Transcribing. I seem to recall hearing a Uke is in Db, but I'm not sure. *hopes its in C*

btw I'm playing GCEA tunning.

it depends on the type of uke you have. i'm not sure of the rest of the tunings but a tenor uke is GCEA and is what ed uses.

When I learned tenor uke in school, we tuned it as follows:

    A D F# B

I just did a search and found this site (go to the "Tuning the Tiple" part).

The one I learned is apparently the "old-style" tuning, and the G C E A tuning is the "modern" one.

Ed says in the uke magazine he has the GCEA tuning-- "My dog has fleas"

It is the standard ukulele tuning. Yep, yep.
