My band is starting to record demos and stuff, and we just aren't pleased with how our vocals are coming out. We know we can sing, but we don't have the equiptment to make our voices sound as good as they could be.

I have an SM58b mic. I think I want a cheap vocal processor make our voices stand out more in the mix.

Why must we trust all these rusted rails?
They don't want no change. We already have.

  • before you look into that, Are you running it thru a tube pre amp?

That is a big big help.

  • First of all, make sure to sing right into the mic, only about 1 inch away from the grill or less. Compression will help a lot, too. After that, I'd work on reverb, delay, etc. to get a little flavor on top. But getting it to sound full and powerful and tight, that's the biggest thing.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
